CHICAGO OFFICE BUILDING
CLIENT: U.S. Army
LOCATION: Chicago, IL
Purpose:
The renovation of the Army Enterprise Marketing Office (AEMO) was designed to create an inspiring and state-of-the-art workspace that aligns with the mission of modernizing recruitment and encouraging future leaders to join the U.S. Army. Richard created a cutting-edge office environment that reflects a modern recruitment mission while maintaining the building's LEED® Gold certification and incorporating advanced security requirements, all within a historic Chicago structure.
Challenge:
The renovation demanded exceptional adaptability as the team navigated significant supply chain disruptions and material shortages while implementing specialized security requirements for SCIF spaces. The complexity was amplified by the need to integrate cutting-edge technology and sustainable features within a historic structure, all while maintaining LEED® Gold certification standards and adhering to strict timeline requirements. This required a sophisticated balance of preservation and modernization, demanding innovative solutions and agile project management.
Outcome:
Despite these obstacles, Richard delivered the project on time, utilizing innovative Falk demountable panels to enhance the design and functionality of the office space. These sustainable panels not only saved on space and costs but also contributed to the building’s LEED® Gold certification. The new office features a sophisticated Building Automation System (BAS) that integrates HVAC, lighting, and exterior shade controls for optimal efficiency. Through collaboration and real-time communication, Richard created a modern workspace that reflects the essence of the U.S. Army, demonstrating our honor in building for purpose and enabling future leaders to thrive.
The successful implementation of these modern elements within the historic Bond Department Store building at 11 W. Quincy demonstrates how innovative materials and strategic planning can transform a traditional space into a contemporary, sustainable workplace.
Testimonials:
“There is no question that the cooperative effort and amicable relationship between the design team and this construction team (all trades included) made this project the success that it was. It was apparent that all involved were truly invested in a great outcome, and that is indeed what we got!” -
LAURIE WOOLVERTON, IDEA ARCHITECT ON THE PROJECT
“This project was a success because all stakeholders were committed to keeping everyone in the loop at all times—even as things changed on a sometimes-hourly basis. There was total cohesion here, with everyone playing their roles—that was key.”
